OZZANO SCHOOL

The new school building has been conceived as a homogeneous architectural organism and not as a simple addition of spatial elements, thus contributing to the development of the student's sensitivity and becoming itself an instrument of communication and therefore of knowledge for those who use it; it develops on two levels with a surface of 36,400 sqft.  The experience in planning schools in the contemporary planning landscape teaches that the distribution of common spaces (break-out spaces) is a fundamental distributive element. The planning of space is no longer conceived as separate spaces of learning but a fluid space where educators can readjust the spaces to respond creatively to the needs of the students. The project starts from the decomposition of the brief where the classrooms become the generating element of the first floor spaces. The spaces are distributed on a continuous ring that favours the flow of the students in different directions, ordered by the double volume atrium, which favours an immediate sense of comfort and the immediate comprehension of the distribution of the spaces as soon as they enter the building.
