CASTELLO 5196

This refurbishment project transforms a historic Venetian attic apartment into a sequence of serene, contemporary spaces shaped by light, material continuity and subtle craftsmanship. The residence unfolds towards one of the rare large terraces in Venice, conceived as a natural extension of the interior. Soft, mineral tones, bespoke joinery and carefully framed views establish a quiet atmosphere above the city’s rooftops, while the re‑organised layout enhances fluidity, privacy and a sense of calm retreat within the historic fabric.

The expansive terrace becomes the heart of the project, redesigned as an elevated landscape that shifts from shaded living areas to sunlit seating, water features and a sculpted outdoor kitchen. The intervention creates a refined balance between openness and intimacy, allowing the apartment to embrace Venice’s changing light throughout the day. Material coherence between inside and outside strengthens the spatial dialogue, offering a rare opportunity to inhabit the city from above while remaining anchored in its architectural tradition.
